blonde hair and a shop visit

My hair is blonde!  For the first time ever.  Well, for the third time, really.  I was a blonde baby.  And I've had it bleached once before, but with pink and orange in it, too.  And this is only temporary...I'm going in today to finish the process.  I'm hoping to end up somewhere in the silvery gray spectrum.  Anyway.  This isn't really the best photo of my outfit, but it's the least derp-y photo of me, so it's what you get. I've had this 1940s dress for ages, as well as the sandals (Nine West), and the vintage beaded necklace.  I always want to wear these beads, but hardly ever do.  The largest beads are the size of cherry tomatoes!

This was my one keeper from a recent vintage buy.  It holds a lot, and is surprisingly easy to carry for a bag that doesn't have a traditional handle.

We were downtown for a cocktail and dinner after seeing Wes Anderson's wonderful Moonrise Kingdom.  We stopped by our space at Lost and Found, too, which made me feel for a moment I was transported back to the 1965 setting of Moonrise.  (The movie is just as fun and quirky as you'd expect.  I think I loved the music most of all--Benjamin Britten's Noye's Fludde and lots of Hank Williams.)

While we were there, Andy put up the sign for our brand new dressing room.  Yes, we now have a dedicated dressing room at Lost and Found--woo hoo!

  2. Karen, I love it!! Does it make you feel different with that new hair? Also looking forward to seeing the final outcome. You're lucky you have the skin tone to try blonde. I always wanted to just for fun, but it might look ridic with my olive skin. Super cute red & black outfit - 2 of my favorite colors!

    1. Thanks, J, it's so funny--I don't feel different and I'm already used to it. Maybe that's because I sat in front of the mirror getting the first part done for hours, and it gave me time to get used to the change. I was worried it would wash me out terribly since I'm so pale, but I trust Didi (my stylist). It does have me re-thinking makeup and wardrobe colors (and styles!).

  6. Love the beads! And the bag! Can't wait to see the final hair color, as well. How exciting! I actually stopped bleaching mine about three years ago (I don't think curly hair likes bleach very much) and yes, makeup and clothes look totally different with a new hair color. It's pretty wild. I think I need to go see Moonrise Kingdom. Paul and I have movie passes that he won at work, so we might have to put them to use this weekend. On the subject of your recommendations, I still haven't gotten to see the second season of Game of Thrones since we don't have HBO, but I'll probably get through the entire series of novels in the meantime. I'm a bit obsessed.
