last week

Last week was so busy!  We celebrated Andy's birthday, had two major vintage buys (one a surprise that fell smack in the middle of his birthday celebrations), and my friend Stephani visited us.  There was a lot of cocktail making and coffee drinking, some good eating, a ridiculously hot and humid visit to Saugatuck's beach, and beautiful Michigan moons.  (More photos on my Instagram.)

We also reserved our apartment for our week in Vienna, which I'm very excited about.  Now we just have to find a place to stay for our week in Munich...any thoughts on neighborhoods/places to stay from those who are from there or have visited would be greatly appreciated!

  2. Yes, a very Happy birthday to Andy!

On two different trips to Munich I stayed in the area around Karlsplatz. It is pretty much within walking distance to all parts of the town center. I don't know about apartments, but there are lots of hotels in that area. Another time we stayed at the north end of the English Garden, and that was just too far to be able to walk to most places. It is great if you have access to bicycles.

I haven't been there in about 8 or 9 years, and I'm looking at google maps with a disgusted look on my face. Starbucks? Tommy Hilfiger? What the heck???

    1. We are staying at a place a bit outside the city center that I found on Air BnB (it will be our first Air BnB stay--I'm excited!). We'll be in Munich for a week, so we'll have plenty of time to explore, and I like the idea of living in an actual neighborhood rather than amongst tons of other tourists. Munich (as with most of Europe, it sounds like) has excellent public transportation, so it should be easy to get around. I can't wait to see the English Garden!

I'm not sure what I'll do if I see a Starbucks in Vienna...though I'm sure they have them. Can you imagine?
