holiday wishlist--the scottish edition

It's that most wonderful time of year again! And I'm still obsessed with all things Scottish. So, in (temporary) lieu of a trip to Scotland, I'll take any or all of the following for Christmas, thank you. (Start shopping now if you want them to arrive in time for the holidays--all items with the exception of the last one come from Etsy sellers based in Scotland.)

Since I do my packing and shipping in our freezing cold basement all winter, I'm pretty sure I need a pair of these gloves, from seller clovaknits. They might be the only thing standing between me and a horrible Numb Hands Tape Gun Incident.

I love everything in 13threads' shop, but particularly this tailored yet romantic herringbone tweed jacket.

Tuwhittuwhoo has the best shop name on Etsy. And the shop is full of cute things, like this adorable appliqued tablecloth.

The quirky and very funny work in paulofnavarone's shop makes me smile. Even though his name reminds me of the Guns of Navarone toy that I never got for Christmas (see last year's wishlist post).

This Harris tweed houndstooth satchel from breagha is just the bee's knees!

I would have to keep it on a high shelf away from Lucy (of course, that's how she's used to seeing most squirrels), but I do love these wild-eyed herringbone baby squirrels from dragonhouseofyuen.

Aaaaand here it is, from thedoghouse, pretty much the perfect thing for a childless couple obsessed with their dog (erm, not that I know anyone remotely fitting that description): the doggy advent calendar! Brilliant.

Have I mentioned lately we're removing all the disgusting carpet in our house? Thus, I am obsessed with rugs of all sorts, but particularly with cute crocheted ones, like this from emmalamb.

And, finally, this is more of a need than a wish--I have got to get some Pastels cds.

my greedy wishlist, part 2

Part Two (and the last part, because even I have some shame!) of my holiday wish list.

You may think it odd that I don't have many vintage items on my lists (well, none at all on this one). My closets are already stuffed full with vintage. It's a business hazard.

So, aside from vintage, I love perfume and things that smell good. I have a ridiculous collection of perfume, which hasn't kept me from trying and loving one of the latest Serge Lutens scents, Fille en Aiguilles (see above, available at
Luckyscent.com). According to the Luckyscent blurb, fille en aiguilles means "girls in needles", referring apparently to pine needles, as the scent is a striking piney, camphorous blend with (hurrah!) a good deal of smoke. There is a also a touch of "candied fruit and spice." I seem to be really enjoying smoky notes combined with spicy and sweet ones nowdays (no surprise considering the season!). This is the first perfume in quite awhile to make me consider expanding my already-too-big collection.

Also from
Luckyscent.com, I am fascinated by this coffee and mint-scented Wash with Joe body wash.

And because I have an ongoing love affair with the scent and taste of cardamom, I have to have some of this Petrushka tea, which is flavored with cardamom, cloves, almonds and rose. It, too, comes from
Luckyscent, who, as it happens, is offering free FedEx Ground shipping on orders of $50 and more in the continental US through 12/31/09 with promo code december09. Ahem.

I love candles, and this is the time of year for my absolute favorite, L'Artisan's The et Pain d'Epices, which smells just like their Tea for Two perfume, and combines the scent of smoky lapsang souchong tea with sweet gingerbread. Delightful! Available at
Four Seasons.

And on the less pricey side, this
Pacifica Avalon Juniper perfume comes in the cutest owl bottle, and has a refreshing, wintry scent of juniper, heliotrope and grapefruit.

I have also been a fan of Pacifica's Mexican Cocoa candle, and though the candle doesn't have the strongest throw, they now carry the scent
in spray perfume. I wouldn't mind a bottle of that--now is the time to smell of the cozy spices like nutmeg, almond, clove and cinnamon. Which reminds me, the Pacifica Zanzibar Cinnamon Almond soy candle is ideal for this time of year.

And finally, my favorite sweet ever, gray and smoked salt caramels (covered in chocolate!) from
Fran's Chocolates.

May you all get what you're wishing for this holiday season!

there will be SALE

Small Earth Vintage will be having a 20% off sale this coming weekend in the Etsy shop! The sale is for 20% off everything, pre-shipping. Discounts will be sent to the buyer's PayPal account after purchasing.

Many of the fine members of
TeamT are also participating in the sale. You can see a sample of their awesomeness in the below Etsy Treasury I made. You can also click here
to see the Treasury on Etsy and visit some of the TeamT shops.

Not every shop will be participating, but if you shop Etsy this weekend and use search term TeamT, you'll find the TeamT shops. Each seller will have sale details posted in his or her shop banner. I have shopped with many TeamT-ers, and I'm telling you, you won't find more beautiful handmade items, sweeter vintage clothing, or nicer customer service anywhere!

I'll be posting again with more details on the shops participating.
