i spy: old libraries, cozy cabins, and Garbo

Here's a small selection of things that caught my eye last month.  I've been combing through the vintage dresses in the Met archives and posting a dress a day over on my Tumblr page, which has been fun.  There is no particular theme; just dresses that I like.  You can see much more of this on Pinterest, as well.

shop preview: plaid skirts, cozy sweaters, and a 1930s costume

This week's shop preview has some great wardrobe staples--wool plaid skirts and cozy sweaters, dresses from the 1950s and 1970s--plus a gorgeously embroidered peasant blouse, and two decades-apart show stoppers.  The first is a costume from 1932, meant to be worn to parties celebrating the bicentennial of George Washington's birth.  The second is a 1960s mint green pleated chiffon dress (and palazzo pants!) set, decorated with beads and rhinestones.  Scroll down to check 'em out!

shop preview: all the decades (almost)!

This week's shop preview is rich with textures from crepe to mohair, intricate embroidery, and hues from pale pastel to bright primary.  And it includes something from every decade from the 1920s to the 1970s (except the 1930s--drat!).  All items begin arriving in the shop tomorrow.

shop preview: masterpiece prints, wool, and Harris tweed

This week's shop preview has a number of lovely prints, which naturally brought to mind a few artists:  Matisse, Pollock, and Haring.  And for those of you looking to warm up your wardrobes for autumn and winter, the cozy wool knits and Harris tweeds are starting to make their way to the shop, too--including some classic men's jackets.
